PASS Community Summit 2008: Pre-Conference Seminar

System Performance Monitoring and Troubleshooting

Led by Andrew Kelly
Monday November 17, 2008

Seminar Details

This pre-conference seminar will cover all the details on how to capture and analyze the most useful statistics for database and system performance. After attending this seminar you will be able to easily decipher the metrics that lead to identifying system bottlenecks. A good portion of the seminar will consist of demos highlighting the code used to capture and analyze the metrics data. This code can then be taken home and used immediately on your own systems. This seminar does not have a query tuning focus but it will help you identify poorly performing queries and many other issues such as missing / duplicate indexes, file and wait stats, disk issues etc. The new Data Performance Warehouse in SQL 2008 will also be discussed.

Seminar Leader Profile: Andrew Kelly

Andrew J. Kelly is a SQL Server MVP and the practice manager for performance and scalability at Solid Quality Mentors. He has 20 years experience with relational databases and application development. He is a regular speaker at conferences and user groups.
